SECRE T.

Sir,

Enclosure No. 2.

51

C.R.C.C./5384(A.Q)

HEADQUARTERS,

CHINA COMMAND,

HONG KING.

26th June, 1931.

I have the honour to inform your Excellency that the conference, mentioned in your Secret letter No.896/1929.c. dated 16th June, 1931, was held on the 19th June, 1931, at 11 A.M.

2. The Minutes of the Conference are attached, together with a plan explaining the points referred to at the conference.

3. I agree generally that the suggested boundary adjustments and the shifting of the ropeway as indicated on the plan would meet requirements as far as the continued use of the Ordnance Magazine is concerned.

4. May I take it that Your Excellency will now give instructions for negotiations to be set on foot with the Royal Navy with a view to arriving at some financial adjustment.

5. I will be grateful if Your Excellency will, in due course, inform me of the progress of these negotiations.

I have the honour to be,

Sir,

Your Excellency's Most obedient Servant,

(Sd.) J.W. Sandilands.

Major-General,

Commanding The British Troops in China.

His Excellency,

The Governor, etc.,

Hong Kong.
